Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day

I know nothing I give away this time will be as popular as my Lowly Worm doll from the last Sew, Mama,Sew! Giveaway… but I have so many Christmas presents left to make that there’s no way I have time to make another Lowly. I’ve already spent too much time fretting about what to give away, so I finally decided to post two options. The winner can pick which item he/she would like, the other will be for a Yankee Swap at a family party next weekend!

First up is a denim tote bag with leather handles based on this tutorial at Between the Lines. The photo shows two bags I made last summer. The actual bag I’m giving away is probably the size of the bag on the right,  about 12″ wide and 15″ tall.  It was too dark here today take a decent picture, so I figured the older picture was better.

Next is a pair of felt gingerbread guys from “Fa La La La Felt.” You may recall that I posted about them before. I think they are cute, but my husband thinks they are a bit creepy looking. So I’m happy to send them to a home where they will be better appreciated!

In the spirit of the holidays, no need to jump through hoops for a chance to win. Just leave me a comment! If you feel like it, tell me about the best handmade gift you’re giving this year.

Comments will close Friday night and I’ll announce the winner Saturday morning. I will ship internationally.

Oh, yes. That is when I started reading your blog – last Sew Mama Sew day when I saw that lovely Lowly.

The best hand made gift I’m giving this year is zipper pouches…. mostly because I finally decided to try sewing a zipper and found out how simple it is! What was I afraid of?

Love your giveaway. Thanks for the chance to win.

  2. Ammie Avatar

These bags are gorgeous, and your barely creepy little felt ornaments are stinkin’ adorable.

This year I’ve made seven seahorses. I love them for toddler toys. 😀

Thanks for the chance to win!

My best gift is one of those toteable houses with some peg people for my granddaughter.P.S. I would love one of your denim bags. Thanks for the giveaway.

  4. Elizabeth Avatar

Oh, what fun! My best handmade gift this year is a tie between these cute Advent gum packs and a homemade Justin Bieber notebook. (I love the notebook for its creativity, not the Bieber!)

I think it’s funny that your husband says the gingerbread guys are creepy. Isn’t he the one that said your cute cute CUTE ruffly shirt looked matronly? He sure is funny.

And I read the comment by Grace and thought to myself: “But zippers ARE hard, right?” I’m still too chicken to try them, but encouraged by Grace.

I’ve been reading you since the Lowly-give away 🙂
    I didn’t win a Lowly, hopefully I will win a denim bag.

This year I crochet based-on-grannysquares market bags to all female in the family.

(Last year there was a crocheted Lowly for my son http://lh3.ggpht.com/_TawZpbj5D9Q/S0id1wxTcYI/AAAAAAAADVs/vmL-yDcJkPM/s640/P1020181_resize.jpg (it’s my daughter in the pic))

I like the character of the slightly creepy gingerbread men!

I don’t have the time or energy for handmade this Christmas (9 week old baby in the house + a toddler). The best present I made this year was Star Wars pot holders as a housewarming gift for my brother.

I clicked back on Lowly Worm; don’t know how I missed that last year. I had the pleasure of introducing my old busy town books to my little grandsons this year. They are loving them! I like the denim bags as I am a saver of jean leg backs for projects such as these. I am creating a “studio” space (a whole room!) this year so homemade is going to be maple syrup and grape jam (both from our property) and soap (deer and sheep fat) probably. A friend and I get together once a month (more often if we can) and quilt pot holders or placemats or fabric bowls (that’s the last 3 years) for our neighborhood bunco group. We average 12 – 20 gifts and it isn’t so hard (monotonous) if they are spread throughout the year.

This year we made placemats using strips of Christmas fabrics (most of which we had on hand) using the stitch and flip quilt as you go method.

At least 2 of the ladies teared up when we passed them around at our Christmas bunco party.

That makes all the hassle and bother COMPLETELY worth it…to know that they appreciate what we do.

Would love to win your giveaway.

I am not sure what the best made present will be this year. Maybe the stranded mittens for my dad? Maybe the candles we decorated with my daughter? Last year the hat for my husband won the best title, he wears it constantly even though it is not the first hat I’ve made him.

It is funny, I loved those gingerbread men but my husband thought them creepy as well 🙂

Lovely bag I’d love to win it…well my dad goes to work early in the morning and the winters are specially tough on him so I made him a tea wallet with lots of pockets to keep his favourite coffee and tea bags, stirrer etc and I also found a lil cup that collapses flat and a matching flask for hot water and I sent it by post…he was so thrilled and I was so so happy 🙂
